The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) for external candidates.

NECO said that 68,166 candidates out of 96,979 scored at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, giving a 71.63 percent pass rate.

The results were announced at NECO’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State, by the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Ibrahim Wushishi. He said the results were released 52 days after the examinations, which were held between November 26 and December 13, 2025.

According to him, 96,979 candidates registered for the examination, but 95,160 candidates actually sat for it. Of this number, 50,785 were males (53.36 percent) while 44,375 were females (44.63 percent).

Professor Wushishi also revealed that 82,082 candidates, representing 86.26 percent, scored five credits and above, whether or not they passed English and Mathematics.

However, NECO recorded an increase in examination malpractice cases. A total of 9,016 candidates were caught cheating, compared to 6,160 in 2024, showing a 31.7 percent rise.

The Registrar said five examination supervisors have been recommended for blacklisting for helping candidates to cheat. Two of them were from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), while the others were from Kano, Adamawa, and Ogun states.

He also disclosed that four examination centres were recommended for de-registration due to malpractice. Two of the centres were in Niger State, while Yobe and Kano states had one centre each.
