The President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Wale Oke, has reacted to the death of legendary gospel singer and worship leader, Ron Kenoly.
In a heartfelt tribute, Bishop Oke described the late Kenoly as a “true worshipper” whose life and ministry were wholly devoted to the glory of God.
“Farewell to a true worshipper, Ron Kenoly,” the PFN president wrote. “A man of humility, a vessel of grace, and a true worshipper who gave his life to the glory of God.”
Bishop Oke noted that the gospel icon walked in deep spiritual insight and was filled with the Holy Spirit, adding that his ministry through songs and the Word lifted hearts and nations into an atmosphere of worship.
He recalled hosting Kenoly on several occasions in Nigeria and other countries, describing it as a privilege to witness his passion and commitment to serving the Body of Christ.
“He carried the presence of God wherever he ministered,” Bishop Oke said, stressing that Kenoly’s impact transcended generations.
While expressing grief over the loss, the PFN president said the church takes comfort in the assurance that a life spent in faithful devotion to God is never in vain.
He extended condolences to Kenoly’s wife, children and grandchildren, praying that the Holy Spirit would comfort and strengthen the family at this difficult time.
Bishop Oke concluded his tribute with a scripture from Revelation 14:13, describing the late gospel singer as blessed for resting from his labours, while his works continue to follow him.
Ron Kenoly, who died at the age of 81, remains one of the most influential worship leaders in contemporary gospel music, with songs that shaped global worship for decades.
