Popular Nollywood actor Stanley Ontop has raised alarm over an alleged plan to re-arrest actress Angela Okorie immediately after her release from prison.

Recall that Angela Okorie was arrested and remanded at Suleja Prison last week over allegations of defamation involving fellow actress Mercy Johnson.

Although the actress was granted bail on Friday by the Federal High Court, she has remained in custody due to a delay in processing her bail conditions.

Providing an update via Instagram, Stanley Ontop explained that the delay was caused by late verification of the residential address of Angela Okorie’s surety. According to him, the court has now signed her release documents.

However, the actor alleged that there is a fresh attempt to detain the actress.

“We got information that there’s a fresh petition against Angela Okorie and that some police officers are stationed in front of Suleja Prison to apprehend her again immediately she’s released,” Stanley wrote.

He further accused the Nigeria Police Force of acting unprofessionally, questioning why an arrest would be carried out instead of a formal invitation.

“Angela Okorie will be out in a few minutes. The court has signed for her release now. But why are police officers waiting to re-arrest her? What happened to invitation? Why are you people arresting citizens you are meant to protect?” he added.

Stanley Ontop also appealed for the safety of the actress, urging that nothing untoward should happen to her on her release day.
