Chappell Roan reacts to backlash over topless Grammys look

American singer and songwriter Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, popularly known as Chappell Roan, has reacted to the criticism she received over her topless Grammys look.

The 27-year-old, known for her camp and drag-queen-influenced style, stirred reactions from fans after removing the cape of her red Mugler dress at the red carpet of the Grammys. Roan’s bold move left her chest and her back fully exposed.

While responding to the mixed reactions her look generated, Roan explained that she did not think it was an outrageous outfit. She stated that she was only exercising her free will.

“Giggling because I don’t even think this is THAT outrageous of an outfit,” she wrote on Instagram Feb. 2. “The look’s actually so awesome and weird. I recommend just exercising your free will it’s really fun and silly. Thank you for having me @grammys and those who voted for me!!,” she stated
