Power outage hits Abuja as TCN begins maintenance work

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has announced a power outage in some parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

According to AEDC, the blackout is due to a planned maintenance work by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

In a statement shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) page on Wednesday, AEDC said TCN is carrying out maintenance on transformers TR1 and TR2 at the Kukwaba Transmission Substation on Tuesday, February 4, 2026.

The company explained that the maintenance is expected to end by 2:00 pm and is meant to improve electricity supply and service reliability in the affected areas.

Areas affected by the outage include:
Wuye
Utako
CITEC Estate
Idu Industrial Area
Coca-Cola area
PESI
FMC
EFCC
Nile University
Zhidu Community
Fafu Estate
And nearby locations
AEDC apologised to customers for the inconvenience caused by the planned maintenance.
