Nigerian singer Ugbekile David Osemeke, popularly known as Boy Spyce has weighed in on the topic of submission from women.
The 24-year-old, on his social media page reacted to a tweet made by an X user, Preye, who spoke about men who tends to lecture their partners when they need help or kindness.
She painted a scenario of a woman on heels whose feet hurts, stating that while some men will lecture the lady about her decision to wear heels, others will carry the lady to ease her pain.
”Some men will carry you when your feet hurt. Others will stand there and say ‘I warned you about those heels’. If he lectures you when you’re in pain, he’s not your person. The right one lifts first, talks later,” she wrote.
Boy Spyce however countered her opinion, explaining that a woman who wouldn’t listen to him, does not deserve his protection.
”If you can’t submit to my leadership or guidance then I don’t owe you my protection. If I’m nice enough to still come through for you then you are in no position to dictate my process. Next time, listen, or be with someone you love enough to listen to,” he wrote.
His response quickly sparked reactions from other users. While some expressed their thoughts on the main topic, others questioned Boy Spyce’s opinion and statement on protection.
”Protectors protecting women from other protectors will never make sense sha,” one user wrote.
”Wetin Una dey protect them from?,” another user questioned.
Some users, however, agreed with the singer, claiming that other people are finding it hard to understand his perspective
”This is an intelligent perspective. It takes an open and intelligent mind to understand his position…..but it’s clear a lot of commenters are losing it,” one user stated.
