Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has said goodbye to Atalanta after completing his move to Atlético Madrid.

The Nigerian striker spent almost four years at the Italian club and shared an emotional farewell message on Instagram, thanking the club, his teammates, and the fans.

Lookman said Atalanta welcomed him warmly from the day he arrived in Bergamo and pushed him to always give his best.

He remembered the historic night in Dublin when Atalanta won a European trophy for the first time in 61 years. Lookman scored a hat-trick in the final, a moment that made him a club legend.

He described that night as unforgettable and said lifting a trophy with Atalanta would always stay in his heart.

Lookman also spoke about his personal success at the club, including winning the African Player of the Year award in 2024 while playing for Atalanta.

He thanked his teammates, coaches, and staff, and gave special praise to the fans for their support at home and away matches. He said Bergamo felt like home and that the memories would stay with him forever.

With his transfer now complete, Lookman has started a new chapter with Atlético Madrid in Spain.

The move is historic because he became the first English-born player to have played in the Premier League, Bundesliga, Serie A, and La Liga. Only a few players in history have played in all of Europe’s top five leagues.

The 28-year-old London-born striker joined Atalanta in 2022 from RB Leipzig. During his time in Italy, he scored 55 goals and made 27 assists.

Lookman played for England at youth level and won the Under-20 World Cup in 2017 before choosing to represent Nigeria in 2022.

Atlético Madrid confirmed the deal on transfer deadline day. The Spanish club announced that Lookman has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until June 2030.

Lookman began his professional career at Charlton Athletic in 2015, later moving to Everton, where he scored on his Premier League debut. He also played for Leipzig, Fulham, and Leicester City before settling in Italy.

His journey now continues in Spain, but his impact at Atalanta will not be forgotten.
