Quick Read

Nwabali joined Chippa United in 2022 from Katsina United in the Nigeria Premier Football League. He played over 70 matches for the club and became captain in 2024.

Super Eagles shot stopper Stanley Nwabali has left South African club Chippa United after four years with the team.

The club announced on Thursday that the 29-year-old goalkeeper asked to leave, even though he signed a three-year contract extension in 2024.

Chippa United said it agreed to his request and wished him success in the next stage of his career.

The club praised Nwabali for his service, commitment, and professionalism, saying his contributions to the team will always be appreciated.

Chippa did not say whether Nwabali has joined another club or is now a free agent.

Nwabali has also remained silent about his next move.

However, reports say he is attracting interest from other clubs in the South African Premier Soccer League, as well as teams in Europe and Saudi Arabia.

Nwabali joined Chippa United in 2022 from Katsina United in the Nigeria Premier Football League. He played over 70 matches for the club and became captain in 2024.

His impressive performance at the Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire helped him secure the position of Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper.
