The Lagos State Environmental Task Force has intensified operations against street trading and environmental violations across the state, seizing goods and arresting offenders, the Hon. Commissioner for the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, announced on Friday.

According to Wahab, the enforcement and clean-up operations were conducted at multiple high-traffic locations, including Ogudu Road by Ojota Junction, Iyana-Ipaja Under Bridge, and Egbeda Junction, where traders had encroached on the roads, obstructing traffic and compromising public safety.

During the operations, 15 offenders were arrested, and their goods were seized.

The Commissioner shared videos and pictures of the operation on X, highlighting the state’s commitment to maintaining orderly roads.

“All suspects will be arraigned in court, and the seized items will be forfeited to the State in line with existing laws,” Wahab said. He emphasized that street trading remains illegal in Lagos and pledged that the state government will continue to enforce the law firmly and fairly to ensure that roads remain safe and accessible for all users.
