Manchester City can reduce the gap on Sunday, but they face a tough away match against Liverpool, a ground where they have won only once in their last 22 Premier League visits.

Arsenal strengthened their hold on the top of the Premier League table with a 3–0 win over Sunderland at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

Martin Zubimendi opened the scoring just before half-time with a fine shot from outside the box that went in off the post. His goal settled Arsenal after a difficult first half, during which goalkeeper David Raya looked a little shaky.

Sunderland started the second half strongly and pushed for an equaliser, but Arsenal extended their lead in the 66th minute. Viktor Gyokeres scored shortly after coming on as a substitute, finishing calmly to make it 2–0.

Arsenal controlled the rest of the match and sealed the win in stoppage time. Gyokeres scored again in the 93rd minute after being set up by Gabriel Martinelli, completing his first brace in back-to-back Premier League games.

The victory moves Mikel Arteta’s side nine points clear at the top of the table. Earlier in the day, Aston Villa dropped points away at Bournemouth, helping Arsenal increase their lead.
