Rector of the school, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, made this known at the 5th Combined Convocation Ceremony held at the 1000-seat Capacity Theatre of the institution in Lokoja, on Saturday.

The Professor of Political Science noted that the graduands were drawn from no fewer than 26 states of the federation, with results reflecting a healthy distribution across Distinction, Upper Credit, Lower Credit and Pass grades, an indication of improved academic standards.

He said beyond the convocation figures, the Polytechnic recorded landmark achievements in academic quality assurance, securing 100 per cent re-accreditation of all 30 academic programmes previously threatened by serious accreditation challenges.

The rector stated that several reforms were implemented to strengthen integrity and efficiency, including the introduction of secure Statements of Results and Certificates embedded with QR codes, deployment of e-examinations, e-result computation and e-payment platforms, and stricter regulation on textbook production and sales.

The rector congratulated the graduands and urged them to serve as worthy ambassadors of the institution in their endeavours.

Highpoint of the ceremony was the Conferment of Fellowship Awards on Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his inspiring leadership and exemplary commitment to the growth of Polytechnic education as the Visitor.

A former governor of the state who established the institution, the late Prince Abubakar Audu, and a former Rector the Late Prof. Idowu Ajibero were given posthumous awards for their services. Other awardees were Accountant-General of the State, Dr Habibat Oyiza Tijanni Onumoko; the Maigari of Lokoja, HRH Alhaji Muhammad Kabir Ibrahim Gambo Maikrfi IV and a former Minister, Professor Stephen Ikani Ocheni.

It would be recalled that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has since approved Ogbo’s appointment as New Vice Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba.

The governor also approved the appointment of Professor Salihu Avidime as Rector, Kogi State Polytechnic.
