Nigerian man Segun found dead after attacking daughter

The Ekiti State Police Command has launched an investigation after a disturbing family tragedy involving a middle-aged man identified simply as Segun in Ise Ekiti, Ise/Orun Local Government Area.

Sources in the community said the incident happened in the early hours of Sunday, when the man allegedly attacked his teenage daughter before he was later found dead near the family residence.

A resident, Mr Patrick Abayomi, said neighbours were drawn to the house after hearing unusual noise from the compound.

According to him, the injured girl, said to be about 12 years old, was rushed to a nearby hospital where she is currently receiving treatment and is said to be responding.

The incident has thrown the community into shock, with residents expressing concern over what could have led to the tragedy.

Another source, who spoke anonymously, said the development raised questions about the mental state of the man before the incident, while expressing gratitude that the girl survived.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Ekiti State Command, Superintendent Sunday Abutu, confirmed the development.

He said the Commissioner of Police, Joseph Eribo, has ordered a thorough investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
