Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has officially launched Majority FM 89.5, a new radio station in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, designed to support President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign.
The station is strategically located within the office of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, a political group closely aligned with Tinubu’s administration. Sources say the initiative is part of a broader effort to expand political messaging and influence across the South-South region in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections.
In a video circulating on social media, Wike was seen touring the modern radio studio, inspecting equipment, and interacting with staff, emphasizing the station’s importance as a platform for strategic communication. He told staff, “This station will carry messages from all 666 local government units of Rivers State. We are ready for this job, and we are ready for 2027.”
Political analysts have noted that the launch of Majority FM further cements Wike’s presence in Rivers State politics and could play a pivotal role in shaping public opinion in favor of the Renewed Hope movement and Tinubu’s re-election bid.
While the station is now operational, the Renewed Hope Ambassadors have yet to release an official statement detailing the programming schedule or operational direction of the station.
Nevertheless, the development signals a more organised and media-focused approach to political mobilisation in the region.
