Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has said Nigerians deserve elections that are transparent, trustworthy, and truly reflect the will of the people.

She made the statement on Tuesday in a Facebook post ahead of the Senate’s emergency sitting on proposed amendments to the Electoral Act.

According to her, the expectations of millions of Nigerians rest on the decisions lawmakers make regarding electoral reforms.

“As I enter the Senate chamber today, I carry the hopes of Nigerians who want stronger democratic protections in our laws,” she said.

Senator Natasha stressed that real-time electronic transmission of election results is essential to improving transparency, protecting voters’ choices, and rebuilding public confidence in the electoral process.

She added that such reforms would help strengthen unity and deepen democracy in the country.

Meanwhile, the Senate on Tuesday commenced an emergency plenary session to deliberate on the controversial amendments to the Electoral Act.
