Pop superstar Britney Spears has reportedly sold the rights to her entire music catalogue to independent music publisher Primary Wave in a deal estimated at around $200 million.

Pop superstar Britney Spears has reportedly sold the rights to her entire music catalogue to independent music publisher Primary Wave in a deal estimated at around $200 million.

The agreement, said to have been finalised on December 30, hands over Spears’ ownership of her iconic hits, including “…Baby One More Time,” “Toxic,” and “Gimme More”, to the publisher, though exact financial terms remain undisclosed.

BBC reported that the transaction confirmed that Primary Wave acquired not only Spears’ catalogue but also certain additional rights, following a growing trend among major global artistes cashing in on their music assets.

Spears, 44, remains one of the best-selling female artistes of all time, with over 150 million records sold worldwide since her debut in 1999. She has released nine studio albums over her career.

The sale comes years after Spears ended a highly publicised conservatorship in 2021, which controlled her personal and professional life for more than a decade.

Primary Wave, founded 20 years ago by music executive Lawrence Mestel, is known for managing the estates and catalogues of legendary artistes such as Prince, Whitney Houston, and The Notorious B.I.G.

Neither Spears nor representatives for Primary Wave have commented publicly on the deal.
