Reacting to the report on Instagram, Leo described the claim as a “lie from the pit of hell” and assured fans that his father is alive and in good health.

Leo Edochie, son of Nollywood veteran Pete Edochie, has dismissed online reports claiming that the 78-year-old actor is dead.

The false claim originated on X, where a user alleged that Pete Edochie had passed away in a hospital under “unknown circumstances” and claimed the actor’s “elder son” had confirmed the news.

The post read in part: “Nollywood actor Pete Edochie have just passed away at the age of 78 after being rushed to the hospital last due to unknown circumstances. His elder son have confirmed the passing of Pete Edochie this morning on his IG. It’s was a tragic moment he said, rest in peace sir.”

Reacting to the report on Instagram, Leo described the claim as a “lie from the pit of hell” and assured fans that his father is alive and in good health.

“I have been receiving calls over some nonsense that people have been posting that our father has died. It’s a lie from the pit of hell. Our father is not just alive but hale and hearty,” he wrote.

Leo also condemned those spreading the rumour, saying: “If you wish someone died, two things happen: he lives very long, and you will die before him. Shame on you all. God punish you.”

This is not the first time Pete Edochie has been the subject of death hoaxes. In 2022, another false report claimed he had died in a car accident, which was similarly refuted by his son Uche. According to the family, malicious rumours about the veteran actor have persisted for more than two decades.
