LeBron James became the oldest player in NBA history to record a triple-double on Thursday, leading the Los Angeles Lakers to a 124-104 victory over the Dallas Mavericks.

At 41, James scored 28 points, pulled down 10 rebounds, and handed out 12 assists, surpassing Karl Malone, who was 40 years, 127 days old when he recorded a triple-double in 2003. James secured his final rebound with just over two minutes remaining in the game.

The milestone comes just three days before James makes his 22nd All-Star Game appearance, extending his unprecedented 23-year career as the NBA’s all-time leading scorer and four-time champion.

Lakers coach JJ Redick praised James for his commitment and professionalism. “I don’t take for granted how good he is,” Redick said. “The more remarkable thing is how much he cares in his 23rd year with all his accomplishments. He’s going to get another ‘oldest player to do X, Y, or Z.’ It’s really just the day-to-day professionalism and care factor that he exhibits that is the most remarkable thing.”

With Luka Doncic absent for the Mavericks, James set an early tone with 14 first-quarter points, helping the Lakers bounce back from two consecutive defeats. The victory drew cheers from fans, especially when James was subbed out for his son, Bronny James, shortly after grabbing his 10th rebound.
