Gov. Abba Yusuf on Saturday removed Buba Galadima, a strong ally of his estranged godfather, Rabiu Musa Kwanakwaso, as the Chairman of the Governing Council, Kano State Polytechnic,

Yusuf appointed the Emir of Gaya, Alhaji Dr Aliyu Abdulkadir, as the replacement of Galadima, his spokesperson, Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa, said in a statement in Kano on Saturday.

The decision followed the restructuring and alignment with the ‘Kano First Agenda’, with the Governor expressing appreciation to Galadima for his services to the institution.

Yusuf urged the new chairman to bring his experience and leadership to reposition the polytechnic for greater academic and administrative excellence.

The relationship between Yusuf and Kwankwaso, his godfather turned sour followed the defection of the latter from the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP to the All Progressives Congress, APC some weeks ago.

Kwankwaso, who is the 2023 presidential candidate of NNPP had accused Yusuf of betrayal for dumping the party on which he was elected to office.

Galadima had backed Kwankwaso in his battle against Yusuf.

Recently, he claimed the Kano chapter of APC has submitted a document to the presidency to bar Kwakwanso from entering Kano.

Speaking in an interview with DCL Hausa, Galadima said

He also claimed that pressure had previously been mounted on Kwankwaso to defect to the APC.

“From the time Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso was told he must join the APC, many people, including his friends and associates, warned him that if he refused, unpleasant things would be arranged against him,” Galadima claimed.

He said some close associates advised Kwankwaso to switch parties to avoid political trouble, adding that there were serious threats.

But he said Galadima is not afraid and will not move to APC in spite of the alleged threats
