The Senate will return for plenary on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, even though lawmakers were supposed to be on a two-week break.
This was made known in a statement issued on Sunday by Emmanuel Odo, Clerk of the Senate. He said he was acting on the directive of Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, to officially inform senators about the new date.
According to the statement, the plenary session will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Senate Chamber.
Odo asked all senators to adjust their personal schedules and be present, as important national matters will be discussed and key decisions are expected to be taken during the session.
The recall comes after lawmakers had gone on a two-week break to focus on the 2026 budget defence by various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
