President Bola Tinubu on Monday used his one-day official visit to Adamawa State to double down on his administration’s economic reforms, assuring Nigerians that tougher policies would translate into broader prosperity and deeper citizen inclusion.

Speaking in Yola, the President declared that the ongoing macroeconomic restructuring was already yielding measurable results across states, particularly in education, healthcare and infrastructure, and promised sustained investment in agriculture and human capital development.

“We will achieve more macroeconomic successes. We will achieve more for this country. We are investing heavily in agriculture and human capital development. We must be able to feed ourselves, feed the country,” Tinubu said.

The President stressed that the repositioning of the economy through “the right policies” had enabled increased allocations to states, empowering subnational governments to execute large-scale projects that directly impact livelihoods.

In a strong endorsement of Governor Umaru Fintiri, Tinubu commended the Adamawa administration for effectively deploying federal allocations to deliver infrastructure and education projects.

“You’re reflecting the true commitment of a government of the people, by the people and for the people,” the President said, pointing to what he described as visible renewal in the state.

Among the projects commissioned were a model school, one of 21 built across the state’s 21 local government areas at a cost of ₦24.8 billion, an expanded Galadima Aminu Road with overhead bridge and underpass alongside the dualised Gimba Road costing ₦15.6 billion, a remodelled State High Court Complex (₦5.5 billion), and a new Government House office complex valued at ₦6.3 billion.

Tinubu noted that the eight-lane road and underpass would ease mobility and stimulate commerce, while the modern High Court complex would strengthen the administration of justice.

The President also called on state governments to channel more resources into poverty reduction, especially by improving access to quality education for children.

He thanked traditional and religious leaders for maintaining peace and unity in the state, acknowledging the difficulty of navigating economic reforms and political dynamics.

In a notable moment, Tinubu publicly praised the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, describing him as “honest, bold, courageous and committed,” and expressing confidence that Nigeria would defeat banditry and terrorism under his leadership.

“With you, we will defeat the bandits and terrorists,” the President said.

Governor Fintiri, in his remarks, described the President’s visit as historic and reaffirmed Adamawa’s support for the Federal Government’s reform agenda.

Five governors-Agbu Kefas, Babagana Zulum, Caleb Muftwang, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, and Mai Mala Buni, joined ministers and other senior officials at the event, underscoring the political weight of the visit.
