What really matters before saying “I Do” – Reno Omokri to men

Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has advised men to be intentional when choosing a life partner, warning against marriages built solely on financial dependence.
Omokri gave the advice in a post shared on his social media page, where he cautioned men against marrying women who see them only as providers for expensive lifestyles and extended family responsibilities.
He distinguished between what he described as a “buddy” and a “burden” in marriage, urging men to seek partners who actively contribute to building a shared future.
According to him, men should marry women who desire companionship and partnership rather than financial sponsorship.
“Dear men, marry a woman who wants a husband and life partner, not one who wants a financier for her expensive lifestyle, someone to look after her parents and siblings, and someone to put all her future demands on,” he wrote.
The social commentator added that marriage requires contribution from both partners, stressing that a spouse should add value rather than depend entirely on a partner’s resources.
Omokri further argued that happiness alone should not be the primary basis for marriage, noting that it can be temporary and influenced by circumstances.
“It is not the best idea to marry someone who makes you happy. Happiness depends on happenings and, therefore, is not stable. Instead, marry someone who adds value to you. Value lasts and can lead to joy, which is a stable form of contentment,” he added.
He explained that the true character and compatibility of a partner often become clearer after marriage, especially when couples begin living together.
