Reality TV personality and former Big Brother Naija housemate, Neo Akpofure, has reacted to sexual assault allegations made against him on social media, demanding a public retraction and apology.

Akpofure, through his lawyers, E.L. Akpofure, SAN & Co., issued a legal notice to an X (formerly Twitter) user, Ms. Arikan Udoka, who had accused him of sexual misconduct.

The user alleged that the incident occurred during their time as students at the University of Calabar (UNICAL), describing the encounter as non-consensual and claiming they previously had a casual relationship.

However, Akpofure’s legal team denied the claims, describing the allegations as false, malicious and damaging to his reputation.

According to the notice, the accusation portrays the reality star as a criminal and has subjected him to public ridicule, emotional distress and professional harm.

The lawyers demanded that the social media user delete the posts and any related content, publish a public apology and retraction, and provide a written undertaking not to repeat the allegations.

They warned that failure to comply within 48 hours would lead to legal action, including a civil lawsuit for defamation under Nigerian law.

Part of the notice read: “Your allegation is entirely false, malicious and defamatory. It portrays our client as a sexual offender and has caused reputational injury and severe personal and professional damage.”
