The Police Command in Katsina State has foiled a bandits’ attack on a community in Dandume Local Government Area and neutralised two suspected bandits.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Aliyu Abubakar, on Thursday in Katsina.

He said: “On Tuesday, at about 12:45 a.m., information was received at the Dandume Divisional Police station that some suspected bandits, armed with dangerous weapons, shooting sporadically had attacked Gidan Soda village, Dandume LGA.

“They fatally shot one Hassana Muhammad before the arrival of security operatives.

“Upon receipt of the report, the DPO quickly mobilised operatives, who, in collaboration with the military and members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC), responded to the scene.

“The team engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel, successfully foiling the attack as the hoodlums fled the scene due to superior firepower.”

He further revealed that the bodies of two bandits and one Boxer motorcycle were recovered while scanning the scene.
Aliyu added that efforts were on to arrest the fleeing suspects as the investigation continue.

The State Commissioner of Police, Bello Shehu, commended the team for a job well done and the level of professionalism displayed during the operation.

He further reiterated the unwavering commitment of the command in synergising with sister security agencies towards ensuring safety and security throughout the state.
