The Ogun State Police Command has dismissed reports that viral TikToker Mirabel was arrested by the police.

In an interview with Channels Television on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, clarified that the claims circulating online were false. He explained that Mirabel had voluntarily reported a case at the police station and was not taken into custody.

“There is an allegation online that police arrested Mirabel. She was not arrested by the police. She had a case and reported at the police station,” Babaseyi said.

This clarification comes on the heels of reports that Mirabel was allegedly attacked and sexually assaulted by a stranger in the Ogijo area of the state on Sunday. According to the Ogun State Police Command, the survivor was immediately taken to a hospital for assessment and urgent medical care. Babaseyi stated that she was later escorted to the Ogijo Police Station, where the case is being properly documented and investigated.

The survivor had alleged that a male suspect forcibly gained entry into her apartment and assaulted her, details she shared on social media on Monday. The post quickly went viral, drawing widespread outrage and calls for swift justice.

Earlier, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency confirmed it had established contact with a close friend of the survivor, who verified that she had been discharged from the hospital. The agency clarified that the incident occurred in Ogun State and had been forwarded to the appropriate authorities there.

“We sincerely appreciate members of the public who provided helpful information via our direct messages, as well as everyone who tagged the Agency to ensure swift intervention,” the agency said.

The Ogun State Police Command said it remains fully committed to ensuring the survivor’s safety and well-being while pursuing a thorough investigation. “Given her fragile condition, the victim has since been referred for extensive medical care to aid her recovery and to support the ongoing investigation,” Babaseyi added.
