The Lagos State Police Command has launched a dedicated anti-crime patrol operation along the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Road, aimed at curbing all forms of criminal activities on the busy corridor.

The Lagos State Police Command has launched a dedicated anti-crime patrol operation along the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Road, aimed at curbing all forms of criminal activities on the busy corridor.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, announced that four specialized patrol teams have been deployed to operate along the highway round-the-clock. The initiative, according to the police, is designed to ensure continuous visibility, rapid response capability, and enhanced security for commuters and commercial traffic.

CP Jimoh noted that the new patrol operation complements existing security measures, including multiple patrol vehicles that have been stationed along the route since December 2025. He said the move reflects the command’s commitment to proactive policing and public safety.

“The Lagos–Calabar Coastal Road is a major commercial and transit artery. We are determined to reduce crime and provide assurance to motorists, traders, and residents along the corridor,” CP Jimoh said.

The operation comes amid rising concerns over highway crimes, including armed robbery, carjacking, and kidnappings, prompting calls from road users and local communities for enhanced policing.

The patrol teams are fully equipped to respond swiftly to reported incidents and will coordinate with local police formations along the route to maintain a high level of surveillance and intervention capability.
