The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 20 people for different electoral offences during the recent Federal Capital Territory (FCT) local government elections.
The EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, shared this information in a statement released in Abuja on Sunday.
According to him, the suspects were arrested in different parts of the FCT for offences such as vote buying, vote selling, and obstructing election officials. A total of ₦17.2 million was reportedly involved in the offences.
One of the suspects was caught with ₦13.5 million inside a car parked near a polling unit in Kwali Local Government Area.
Oyewale said two suspects were arrested in Abaji, nine in Gwagwalada, four in Kuje, and four in Kwali.
He added that the suspects will be taken to court after investigations are completed.
