Evan Okoro calls out Ekene Umenwa over HIV claims

Nollywood actress Evan Okoro has publicly called out her colleague, Ekene Umenwa, over an alleged claim that she is living with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).

The controversy began after Okoro’s name reportedly appeared on a list circulating online, allegedly linked to comments said to have been made by Umenwa to a UK-based Nigerian nurse, Adanma Waller.

Reacting in a video shared on her Instagram page, the actress expressed shock and demanded clarification from her colleague, questioning whether the statement truly came from her.

According to Okoro, she had earlier defended Umenwa amid other accusations but was devastated to see her name associated with the allegation.

“Ekene Umenwa, did you add my name to that list? Is it what you said, or is someone trying to bring me down?” she asked.

The visibly emotional actress also said the situation had deeply affected her family, noting that her mother had been distressed over the circulating claim.

She warned that if the allegation was indeed made by Umenwa, she would hold her responsible, but added that if the rumour was fabricated, those behind it should be blamed.
