Former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has claimed that former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, once reached out to him and his legal team for assistance to secure bail while detained at the Kuje Correctional Centre.

Sowore made the claim in a recent video address to journalists, where he also took a swipe at former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, over reports that he allegedly suffered a nosebleed while in custody.

According to Sowore, Malami had, at the time of his detention, “sent people” to him and his lawyers, having realised they were among the most credible individuals capable of facilitating his release.

He further suggested that El-Rufai may also be seeking a similar route to gain public sympathy amid his current legal troubles.

Sowore questioned the timing and circumstances surrounding the reported health concerns, asking when exactly the alleged nosebleed began.

“I’m surprised that his nose is now bleeding at the ICPC. When did it start bleeding? Did it bleed when he was governor?” he queried.

He also alleged that El-Rufai is being held by individuals within his own political circle, describing the situation as a familiar political strategy.

Sowore’s remarks come amid ongoing controversy over El-Rufai’s detention and growing public concern about his health and access to family and legal representatives
