A quiet community on Washington State’s Key Peninsula was shattered Tuesday morning after a 32-year-old man allegedly stabbed four people to death before being fatally shot by a sheriff’s deputy.

The violence occurred in the Gig Harbor/Purdy area of Pierce County, prompting a rapid and large-scale response from the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office.

According to authorities, deputies were first dispatched at approximately 8:40 a.m. following reports that the suspect had violated a no-contact order at a residence.

Law enforcement officials said the protection order had not yet been formally served, as deputies were en route to deliver it when the situation escalated.

Moments later, multiple 911 calls reported that the man was actively attacking individuals outside a home. A deputy arrived within minutes and encountered what officials described as an ongoing stabbing spree in the street.

The deputy discharged his weapon, striking the suspect. The 32-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three victims were declared dead at the location from stab wounds. A fourth victim was transported to hospital but later died from injuries sustained in the attack. Authorities confirmed that no deputies were injured during the incident.

Investigators indicated that the case appears linked to domestic violence concerns, given the initial report of a no-contact order violation.

However, officials have not released detailed information about the suspect’s prior history or the relationship between the victims and the attacker.

The Pierce County Force Investigation Team has launched a formal review of the officer-involved shooting, in accordance with standard procedure. The identities of the victims and the suspect have not yet been disclosed, pending family notifications and further investigative steps.
