Speaking on her rise to fame, the content creator said her path into the spotlight was filled with criticism and online harassment before she eventually gained confidence and recognition on social media.

Ghanaian social media personality Bannerman-Martin Lorretta, popularly known as Aba Dope, has opened up about her journey from being a victim of cyberbullying to becoming a successful TikTok influencer.

Speaking on her rise to fame, the content creator said her path into the spotlight was filled with criticism and online harassment before she eventually gained confidence and recognition on social media.

According to her, she was initially active on Snapchat, where she shared personal thoughts and lifestyle content before discovering TikTok, a platform she said changed her life.

“Cyberbullying was my first difficulty, which I overcame over time. When I learned about TikTok, I was already on Snapchat, speaking about various things. When I realised I’d been noticed, I switched to TikTok. When I posted a photo of my physical appearance, people complimented me,” she said.

Aba Dope, who once served as a prayer secretary, revealed that her parents were unaware she had ventured into entertainment until she appeared on television.

She explained that although she initially faced harsh criticism and mockery online, she remained consistent with content creation and gradually built a loyal audience.

The influencer said perseverance eventually paid off, as her platform brought financial rewards, fame and career opportunities.

“In my path of content creation, I’ve accomplished a lot in terms of financial success, popularity and celebrity. There are other challenges, such as having little spare time since millions of people are eager for new content, but it opens the road to further fame and money,” she added.

Aba Dope now boasts over a million followers on TikTok and has expanded her brand beyond social media, venturing into business with a restaurant and also hosting a television show.

Reflecting on her achievements, she expressed pride in how far she has come despite the obstacles.

“I’m proud of myself for making it this far. I haven’t accomplished my goal yet, but I’m quite happy with my accomplishments,” she said.
