The APC further criticised the ADC’s reference to alleged “acts of terrorism by the ruling APC” in its February 25, 2026 press statement, describing the claim as reckless and unjustifiable.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has fired back at the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over its allegation linking the ruling party to a reported shooting incident involving its members in Edo State, describing the claim as “utterly delusional” and lacking regard for due process.
In a press statement issued Thursday in Abuja by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the APC said the ADC had acted irresponsibly by accusing it of involvement in the incident even before the conclusion of any investigation by law enforcement authorities.
The ruling party stated that by arriving at what it called a “baseless conclusion,” the ADC had assumed the role of accuser, investigator, prosecutor and judge in its own cause.
The APC further criticised the ADC’s reference to alleged “acts of terrorism by the ruling APC” in its February 25, 2026 press statement, describing the claim as reckless and unjustifiable.
According to the APC, such characterisation reflects desperation on the part of the opposition party to whip up public sympathy, adding that the accusation shows insensitivity to the sacrifices of security personnel engaged in counter-terrorism operations across the country.
While condemning violence in the political space, the APC called on the Nigeria Police and other relevant authorities to conduct an expeditious investigation into the reported shooting and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
The party also urged investigators to scrutinise the ADC, its leaders and members, citing what it described as widely reported internal clashes among factional leaders over control of party structures and access to meetings.
It maintained that it had no role in the incident, noting that it was focused on consolidating its recent electoral victories in the Federal Capital Territory municipal elections as well as constituency polls in Rivers and Kano States.
The APC expressed appreciation to Nigerians for their continued support, particularly voters in the FCT, Kano and Rivers States, for what it described as a vote of confidence in the party and the leadership of President Bola Tinubu.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to building a more resilient and prosperous country for all Nigerians.
