Nigerian students seeking international education opportunities will have direct access to representatives of leading global universities as the Africa Study Abroad Fair arrives in Abuja and Lagos this March.
The event, organised by EmpowerEd, a partnership between Commercium Africa and AfaraEd, is designed to bridge the information gap many students face when planning to study abroad.
Delegates from over 20 top-tier institutions, including Newcastle University, Carleton University, and University College Dublin (UCD), are expected to participate.
For many prospective students, navigating study abroad processes often involves challenges such as delayed responses from universities, evolving visa requirements, and reliance on third-party agents with limited or outdated information.
However, the Africa Study Abroad Fair, aims to address these concerns by providing direct, face-to-face engagement with university representatives.
Organisers say the initiative is structured to give students accurate, first-hand information about admissions, scholarships, accommodation, and campus life in different countries.
By interacting directly with decision-makers, attendees can gain clarity on application processes and better understand what institutions are looking for.
The fair will also showcase a diverse range of study destinations, allowing students to compare options, from the fast-paced urban experience of cities like Toronto to more traditional academic environments in places such as Ireland and Scotland, all within a single venue.
Stakeholders note that the event reflects a growing demand among Nigerian students for transparent and reliable guidance on international education pathways, particularly as global study opportunities continue to expand.
The Africa Study Abroad Fair is expected to attract a wide turnout of students, parents, and education stakeholders eager to explore opportunities and make informed decisions about studying abroad.
The statement from the organizers of the event simply reads: “If you’re a Nigerian student trying to map out your study abroad plans, you already know the struggle: unanswered emails, confusing visa updates, and relying on agents who might not have the full picture. This March, the Africa Study Abroad Fair is cutting out the middleman by bringing university representatives straight to Abuja and Lagos.
“Organized by EmpowerEd, a partnership between Commercium Africa and AfaraEd, the fair is flying in delegates from over 20 top-tier schools, including Newcastle University, Carleton University, and UCD Ireland.
“The idea behind the event is to fix the information gap. Instead of relying on hearsay, students can talk directly to the people who actually read their applications. Whether you
have questions about securing a scholarship, finding affordable housing, or figuring out campus life in London versus a quiet town in Scotland, you can get answers face-to-face.
“The fair features a wide mix of schools, so whether you want the fast-paced city life of Toronto or a traditional campus community in Ireland, you can weigh your options in one room.”
The organizers also confirmed that entry is free, but registration must be done to a pass.
The event is open to parents, guardians, and students.
Additionally, the fair will take place in Abuja on March 2, 2026, at Abuja Continental Hotel, and in Lagos on March 4, 2026, at Marriott Hotel, Ikeja.
