Russia’s Foreign Ministry also called on the international community to carefully assess what it described as irresponsible actions that could further destabilise the Middle East.

Russia has strongly criticised the recent attacks on Iran by the United States and its ally, Israel.

In a statement, Russia’s Foreign Ministry condemned what it described as increasing military strikes on Iranian territory.

According to reports by ABC News, Russia called the attacks “a pre-planned and unprovoked act of armed aggression” against a sovereign member of the United Nations. Moscow also called for an immediate stop to the fighting and urged all sides to return to diplomatic talks.

The Russian government accused Washington and Tel Aviv of using concerns about Iran’s nuclear programme as an excuse to push for regime change. It warned that continued attacks could lead to serious humanitarian, economic, and even environmental disasters in the region.

Russia said it is ready to help mediate and support peace efforts, but blamed the United States and Israel for escalating tensions.

Earlier, Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council, accused the US of using nuclear negotiations with Iran as a cover while preparing for military action.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry also called on the international community to carefully assess what it described as irresponsible actions that could further destabilise the Middle East.
