The management of Michelle Mukoro, popularly known as influencer King Mitchy, has retracted its earlier statement announcing her death, following widespread confusion and online speculation.
The controversy unfolded amid an ongoing social media feud between Mitchy and activist VeryDarkMan, which centered on allegations about her charitable projects.
Mitchy had recently claimed to have renovated a school in just six days and had publicly questioned VeryDarkMan over his handling of public donations since 2025.
The situation escalated when VeryDarkMan alleged that Seyi Tinubu, the son of the Nigerian president, was financing Mitchy’s philanthropic activities—a claim that sparked heated debates across social media platforms.
The feud reportedly led to the loss of Mitchy’s business Instagram account and intensified online harassment. During a live video, the influencer was seen consuming a substance believed to be a bleach brand called “hypo,” prompting concerned viewers to intervene.
Mitchy’s management initially announced that she had died at Prime Care Hospital, Abuja, claiming medical efforts to revive her had failed and asking the public to respect her family’s privacy.
However, a new Instagram post from her team clarified that the influencer was alive and well. “Michelle is okay now,” the post read.
Prime Care Hospital had earlier denied that Mitchy was ever a patient in their facility, warning that legal action would be taken against those spreading misinformation.
“The management of Prime Care Hospitals wishes to inform the public that the announcement of the alleged death of Miss Mukoro Mitchelle, popularly known as King Mitchy, at our facility in Abuja is FALSE. King Mitchy was never a patient in our hospital and did not pass away here,” the hospital said.
