The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) says Nigerians living in Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Iran have started asking questions about possible evacuation due to rising tensions in the region.

According to the commission, several Nigerians have contacted them to find out if the Federal Government has plans to evacuate citizens if the security situation gets worse.

However, NIDCOM said it has not received any official emergency calls from Nigerians in Iran. The commission also explained that evacuation may be difficult right now because of flight restrictions and security concerns.

It added that the ongoing conflict and suspension of international flights in some areas could make immediate evacuation challenging. The commission said any evacuation plan would depend on improved security conditions.

NIDCOM advised Nigerians in the affected countries to remain calm, stay in safe places, and keep in touch with Nigerian embassies for updates and guidance.

The commission also assured that the Federal Government remains committed to protecting Nigerians abroad and will take necessary steps if the situation worsens further.
