Kikelomo Atanda-Owo, wife of veteran journalist and public affairs commentator, Reuben Abati, has shared details about her past relationships, revealing that she was divorced twice before marrying him in 2020.

Speaking during an appearance on The Morayo Show, Atanda-Owo recounted that her first marriage ended after she discovered that her husband was gay, a reality she said she was unaware of at the time of the union. She disclosed that her second marriage was marked by abuse and infidelity.

According to her, the painful experiences shaped her understanding of love, self-worth and relationships.

“I’m a woman who has been divorced twice. I allowed it the best way I could. I’ve been burnt, but my scars have healed, and I’ve found victory. And in that victory, there is healing first. So you must first see yourself before you can align with someone else,” she said.

Reflecting on her journey, Atanda-Owo expressed gratitude for her children, describing them as the greatest blessings to come from those challenging seasons of her life.

“When I look at my children, I say to myself, how better would I have had the children if not through these experiences? God blessed me with the greatest investment of my life,” she added.

Offering advice to both women and men, she stressed the importance of self-awareness and compatibility in relationships. She noted that love alone is not enough to sustain a marriage and encouraged individuals to align with partners who understand their journey and purpose.

Atanda-Owo also urged people in abusive relationships to seek help and not lose hope, emphasising that healing and happiness are possible after hardship.

She clarified that while she does not condemn anyone for their sexual orientation, honesty is essential in relationships, adding that deception can cause deep emotional wounds.
