U.S. President Donald Trump has rebuffed Iran’s apparent overtures for negotiations, declaring it “too late” as American and Israeli forces continue targeted strikes against Iranian military infrastructure.

Trump’s statement comes as reports indicate significant damage to Iran’s air defenses, navy, and leadership structures, signaling a potential turning point in the weeks-long confrontation.

“Their air defense, Air Force, Navy, and Leadership is gone. They want to talk. I said, ‘Too Late!’” Trump posted on his Truth Social platform on Tuesday.

This marks a stark reversal from just days earlier, when the president had expressed willingness to engage in dialogue.

On Sunday, Trump told reporters, “They want to talk, and I have agreed to talk, so I will be talking to them. They should have done it sooner.”

The shift in tone follows a series of military operations launched by the U.S. and Israel in response to Iran’s alleged support for proxy attacks on Israeli and American interests in the region.

Strikes have reportedly decimated key Iranian assets, including missile sites, naval bases, and command centers in Tehran and other strategic locations.

The U.S. has also announced the closure of two embassies in the Middle East and a reduction in non-essential personnel, citing heightened security risks.

Prior to the outbreak of hostilities, diplomatic efforts had been underway, with three rounds of talks between U.S. and Iranian officials, the most recent concluding last week in Geneva.

These negotiations, mediated by neutral parties, aimed to de-escalate tensions over Iran’s nuclear program, regional influence, and economic sanctions.

However, sources close to the talks indicate that Iran’s insistence on lifting all sanctions without concessions led to a breakdown, paving the way for the current military actions.
