“My advice to every aspirant seeking any office is to get the support of party members. I have no anointed candidates in the coming primaries that will take place between April and May this year. I will abide by what the people decide,” Uba Sani said.
Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has clarified that he will not endorse any aspirants for elective positions during the upcoming APC party primaries, urging candidates to seek the support of party members.
The Governor made the disclosure on Tuesday night while breaking the Ramadan fast with members of the Kaduna State House of Assembly. He emphasized that he will not interfere with the primaries or the selection process, but pledged support to candidates chosen by the people.
“My advice to every aspirant seeking any office is to get the support of party members. I have no anointed candidates in the coming primaries that will take place between April and May this year. I will abide by what the people decide,” Uba Sani said.
He added that his only candidate is President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whose re-election he pledged to ensure in 2027.
The Governor also advised aspirants who do not succeed in the primaries to avoid working against the party, noting that such actions would be counterproductive. Reflecting on his own experience during the previous APC congress, he said most of his supporters were blocked from clinching party positions, but he refused to act against the party.
“At that time, some people wanted me to work against the party. I told them that I wouldn’t work against the house that I helped to build. As God will have it, I’m the Governor today,” he recalled.
Uba Sani warned that the opposition would exploit security challenges in the country to campaign against the APC, but noted that the ruling party remains the only one with a viable platform.
He also highlighted improvements in Kaduna’s security situation since his administration took office in 2023, while acknowledging that more work remains.
“The administration has reopened 535 schools and 85 health facilities that were closed due to insecurity. Roads are being constructed, including the 35-kilometre Bagoma-Gagumi road, which will connect 62 farming communities in Birnin Gwari LGA, and the Mando to Birnin Gwari road, for which a contract has been awarded,” the Governor added.
