The All Progressive Congress (APC) Benue chapter, on Tuesday, elected new officials to pilot the affairs of the party in the next four years.

The State Congress Committee Chairman, Dr Auwalu Ishiye, and Secretary, Mr Tijani Abdullahi, who are conducted the exercise in Makurdi, said the new officials were elected through voice affirmation.

They said all the 36 officials took an oath of office.

Speaking further, Auwalu said the exercise was part of the party’s usual routine of promoting unity, discipline and internal democracy.

The chairman commended Governor Hyacinth Alia for encouraging peaceful congresses across the state, adding that party decisions are always supreme.

He said the congress was not only credible, fair and transparent but also commendable.

Alia, in his remarks, commended the Benue APC family for their peaceful and lawful conduct throughout the ward, local government and state congresses.

The governor said their behaviour would further transcend into more development, economic growth and improved security.

He said his administration was determined to take the people into a new Benue.

“A new Benue is possible. The wheels of a new Benue are already turned on and will not be turned off again. Forward ever. I will continue to stand for you and work for you,” he said.

He described all the congresses in the state as credible, seamless and transparent.

Sen. Barnabas Gemade, Chairman, Benue APC Elders Forum, said former governor Moses Adasu and Alia have proven that only people of Benue North East can deliver good governance in the state.

Gemade said with time, the people of Benue South who are yet to have an opportunity to govern the state will have a chance to prove themselves in governance.

He stated that Governor Alia has done well in the areas of agriculture, commerce, security, youth empowerment, among others.

In his goodwill message for Benue North West, Dr Hinga Biem commended Alia for delivering good governance through the construction of people-orientated projects in about three years in office.

Biem assured that people of Zone B would stand with him come 2027 so as to continue the good work he has been doing so far.

In his acceptance speech, Mr Benjamin Omale, State APC Chairman, said the APC must be home for all, adding that they would strengthen the party at the grassroots to get more support for Alia.

Omale also urged the people to put aside their political differences and embrace peace and unity for the progress of the party.

New local government party chairmen and secretaries were also sworn in during the congress.

Other elected state officials are deputy chairman Mr Alphonsus Indyar, state secretary Solomon Kachinah, legal adviser Barr Teehemen Ngbea, treasurer Smauel Imenger, organising secretary James Ornguga, etc.
