The U.S. Department of State has announced the suspension of operations at its Embassy in Kuwait City, citing security concerns amid heightened regional tensions.
In a media note issued on Thursday, the State Department said the decision was taken as part of measures to safeguard American personnel and citizens abroad.
Officials confirmed that no injuries to U.S. embassy staff had been reported.
The department stressed that the safety of Americans overseas remains its top priority.
Authorities also maintained the travel advisory for Kuwait at Level 3-Reconsider Travel, urging U.S. citizens to carefully review the latest security guidance and country information available on the State Department’s official travel website.
American citizens currently in Kuwait have been advised to leave the country if they can do so safely using commercial or other available transportation options.
Those unable to depart immediately were urged to remain indoors and follow local security guidance.
The State Department said citizens requiring emergency assistance, including consular services or information about departure options, can contact the Bureau of Consular Affairs through its 24-hour emergency lines.
In addition, Americans travelling or residing overseas were encouraged to register with the government’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP), which provides security updates and allows embassies to communicate directly with citizens during emergencies.
Officials said further updates would be provided as the situation evolves.
