Laide Bakare opens up on affair with Odobodobo Motolani

Nollywood actress Laide Bakare has stirred conversations online after sharing loved-up photos with her colleague, Odobodobo Motolani, on social media.

The actress took to her Instagram page to post photos of the pair dressed in matching traditional outfits, stirring speculation about the nature of their relationship.

In the caption accompanying the photos, Bakare described their bond as one built on trust, laughter, respect and a unique understanding shared between them.

She also hinted that they chose to follow their hearts despite public opinions about their closeness.

“Our friendship was built on trust, laughter, respect, and a deep understanding that only we shared. While others had their opinions, we chose to listen to our hearts,” she wrote while appreciating the designer of their outfits.

The latest photos have reignited speculation about the relationship between the two actors. During the 2025 Christmas celebration, Bakare had earlier shared pictures of herself and Motolani wearing matching pyjamas, declaring that love conquers all.

Motolani also posted photos of them together at the time, revealing that he had expected to spend Christmas alone until Bakare showed up.

The actress had previously hinted at romance in 2023 when she introduced a mystery man on Instagram while speaking about love. She described love as a beautiful experience and invited fans and loved ones to join them for an event scheduled for December 2 at Amore Garden in Lekki.

Bakare has also publicly addressed critics of her personal life. In one instance, she fired back at a troll who questioned whether she would leave her new partner because of money, referencing her previous marriage. The actress responded by stating that she was financially independent.

Despite the speculation, Bakare later clarified that she was not currently married, explaining that the man she frequently appears with in videos is simply her colleague.

The actress has been married twice. Her first marriage was to US-based businessman Olumide Okufulure, with whom she shares a daughter, Simi. After their separation, she remarried Alhaji Mutairu Atanda Orilowo in 2012, and the union produced two sons.

However, the marriage later ended after Orilowo was reportedly declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in 2014 over alleged fraudulent activities.
