However, football fans in Abia State had something to celebrate as Abia Warriors FC defeated Shooting Stars Sports Club 2–0 on Sunday.

Former African and Nigerian champions Enyimba International FC have moved into the relegation zone in the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL).

Enyimba lost 2–1 to Warri Wolves FC on Sunday in their Week 29 match. After the defeat, the Aba-based club now sits in 17th place on the league table.

So far this season, Enyimba has:

Won: 8 matches

Drawn: 9 matches

Lost: 12 matches

They currently have 33 points.

The club has recently made several changes to its coaching staff, but the team is still struggling to return to the strong form it was once known for.

Because of the poor results, especially in 2026, many fans are worried that the team could be relegated if things do not improve before the end of the season.

One fan, Victor Azumara, said after the match:

“Our dear Enyimba is now in the relegation zone. How the mighty have fallen.”

Another supporter, Patrick Talabi, also expressed concern, saying the team is now fighting to avoid relegation.

However, football fans in Abia State had something to celebrate as Abia Warriors FC defeated Shooting Stars Sports Club 2–0 on Sunday.

Two powerful goals from Obioma Chukwuemeka secured the win for Abia Warriors.

The victory gives Abia Warriors 46 points after 29 matches, moving them up to 4th place on the league table.
