Quick Read
The controversy began after a video circulated online showing a visibly injured Glory, allegedly beaten by Agbor during a domestic dispute. The footage sparked public outrage and prompted the state assembly to suspend the lawmaker indefinitely over “violent behaviour.”
Glory Agbor, wife of Dickson Agbor, representing Obubra I State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly, has denied claims that her husband physically assaulted her.
The controversy began after a video circulated online showing a visibly injured Glory, allegedly beaten by Agbor during a domestic dispute. The footage sparked public outrage and prompted the state assembly to suspend the lawmaker indefinitely over “violent behaviour.”
In a new video released on social media, Glory described the allegations as “baseless” and suggested the viral footage may have been fabricated. She said artificial intelligence could have been used to generate or alter the video as part of a smear campaign aimed at tarnishing her husband’s reputation ahead of upcoming elections.
“I am out here to tell Nigerians and all persons both home and abroad that what has been online for the past three to four days is a false accusation and nothing of such actually happened,” she said.
“Maybe it is AI, or they want to use that to blackmail me and my husband. You know the election is around the corner, and maybe they want to use that one to bring him down. Nothing of the sort happened to me. Look at me, I am okay, I am good. Did you see any mark on my face or anything of such? Nothing of such ever happened.”
