Nigeria- born Carney Chukwuemeka ends international speculation, chooses Austria

Former Chelsea FC midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka has decided to represent Austria in international football instead of Nigeria or England.

The talented 22-year-old player currently plays for Borussia Dortmund. He was born in Vienna, the capital of Austria, to Nigerian parents.

Because of his birthplace and family background, he was eligible to play for Austria, Nigeria, or England.

Earlier in his career, Chukwuemeka represented England at youth level. He played for England’s Under-17, Under-18, and Under-20 teams, where he was considered one of the promising young midfielders.

However, he never played a competitive match for England’s senior national team.

The world football governing body, FIFA, has now officially approved his request to change his international football nationality. This approval allows him to play for Austria’s senior national team in official matches.

With the approval completed, Chukwuemeka may soon make his first appearance for Austria.

The Austrian national team is scheduled to play international friendly matches against Ghana on March 27 and South Korea on March 31.

These matches could give him the opportunity to earn his first senior international cap.

His decision is important because many fans in Nigeria had hoped he would choose to represent the Nigerian national team.

However, he has now chosen to play for the country where he was born, Austria, and he could become an important player for their national team in the future.
