“The Court of Appeal has spoken, and as a democratic party that believes in the rule of law, we must shift focus from litigation to reconciliation and rebuilding,” she said.

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has urged leaders and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to end ongoing court battles and embrace reconciliation in the interest of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central in the Senate, made the call on Tuesday in a statement she personally signed following the recent judgement of the Court of Appeal on the party’s national convention.

According to the lawmaker, the ruling should serve as a turning point for the PDP leadership to close ranks, rebuild internal unity and focus on strengthening the party.

“The Court of Appeal has spoken, and as a democratic party that believes in the rule of law, we must shift focus from litigation to reconciliation and rebuilding,” she said.

She warned that prolonged internal disputes could undermine the hopes of party members across the country who are preparing to contest elections on the PDP platform.

“Our members across the grassroots must not become casualties of prolonged disagreements among leaders. Their aspirations and the future of our party must remain paramount,” Akpoti-Uduaghan added.

The senator also called on party leaders to show statesmanship and adopt a spirit of compromise in resolving their differences.

She urged stakeholders to work towards an inclusive and credible national convention in compliance with guidelines set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
