Popular media personality Nedu Wazobia has stirred reactions online after stating that it is difficult to be regarded as a role model in Nigeria without financial success.

Nedu made the remark during a recent podcast conversation with media personality Chude Jideonwo, where they discussed the influence of money in society.

According to the radio host, wealth now plays a significant role in how people are perceived and respected, noting that many individuals are less likely to look up to someone who is financially struggling.

Speaking in a snippet of the interview shared on his Instagram page, Nedu said many people in Nigeria equate financial success with credibility and influence.

“You can’t be a role model when you don’t have money in Nigeria,” he said.

During the conversation, Nedu also made a controversial claim about some women living in the Lekki area of Lagos State.

He alleged that many of them rely on financial support from men to cover their housing expenses.

“Most women wey dey live for Lekki, na men dey pay their rent,” he said.
