Paris Saint-Germain produced a dominant attacking display on Wednesday night, defeating Chelsea 5–2 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 playoff.
The French champions took control early at the Parc des Princes, opening the scoring in the 10th minute when Bradley Barcola reacted quickest inside the penalty area after a headed pass from Joao Neves to fire PSG into the lead.
Chelsea responded in the 28th minute as Malo Gusto finished confidently after a lofted assist from Enzo Fernandez, bringing the English side level at 1–1.
However, PSG regained their advantage before halftime. Ousmane Dembele produced a brilliant individual effort in the 40th minute, weaving through Chelsea’s defence before finishing from close range to restore the hosts’ lead.
The match intensified after the break. Chelsea again drew level in the 57th minute, when Fernandez latched onto a pass from Pedro Neto and fired a first-time shot into the net to make it 2–2.

Substitute Khvicha Kvaratskhelia then delivered the decisive blow with a superb solo run in the 86th minute, finishing from the edge of the box to extend PSG’s lead to 4–2.
The Georgian winger sealed an emphatic victory deep into stoppage time, calmly firing home in the 94th minute to complete the scoring and give PSG a commanding three-goal advantage ahead of the second leg.
Despite moments of promise from Chelsea, including a disallowed goal for Joao Pedro after a VAR review, the Premier League side struggled defensively against PSG’s relentless attacking play.
The result leaves PSG firmly in control of the tie as they head into the return leg, while Chelsea face a daunting task to overturn the deficit and keep their Champions League hopes alive.
