Ayra Starr picks her Afrobeats ‘GOATs’

Nigerian Afrobeats star Ayra Starr has revealed her top three Afrobeats artists of all time, naming Tiwa Savage, Wizkid, and Rema as her personal “solid Big 3.”

The singer made the revelation during a recent interview on Hot 97, where she spoke about the influence and impact of the three artists on the Afrobeats genre.

According to Ayra Starr, each of the artists represents a unique strength within the global Afrobeats movement. She described Tiwa Savage as a pioneering female force who paved the way for many women in the industry, while praising Wizkid for his global success and influence in taking Afrobeats to international audiences. She also commended Rema for pushing creative boundaries with his innovative sound and fresh musical style.

“My Afrobeats Big 3 would be Tiwa Savage, Wizkid and Rema. My solid Big 3,” she said during the interview.

Starr’s selection has sparked conversations among music fans, particularly because it leaves out Davido and Burna Boy, who are widely regarded alongside Wizkid as part of the traditional “Big 3” of Afrobeats.
