A wave of defections hit the House of Representatives on Thursday as 12 lawmakers formally changed party affiliations on the floor of the chamber.
The defections were announced by the Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu.
According to Kalu, six lawmakers defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Another six members also dumped their parties — the Young Progressives Party (YPP) and the Labour Party (Nigeria) — to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The defections were formally communicated during plenary, adding to the growing realignments within Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of the next electoral cycle.
