The Turaki faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has agreed to reconcile with the Wike-led camp, signaling a possible end to months of internal party conflict.

Ini Ememobong, the factional National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), shared updates on efforts to reconcile the party’s warring factions.

A major challenge is that the faction led by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, supports a second term for President Bola Tinubu. On the other hand, the Kabiru Turaki-led faction wants the PDP to present its own presidential candidate.

The Wike faction has said the PDP will not run a presidential candidate in the next election and may ask Turaki’s group to support President Tinubu as a condition for reconciliation”.

Speaking on Arise News’ Morning Show, Ememobong expressed hope that both sides could find common ground. He emphasized that the PDP will present candidates at all levels in the upcoming elections.

When asked if reconciliation seemed unlikely, Ememobong said, “Both hope and delusion are human emotions. In the end, the results will show which is which.

We may not endorse the President. As leaders, we listen to the people who gave us power. Right now, the people want us to come together. If there is peace, one of the conditions will be that we present candidates at all levels.

We will also provide a viable presidential candidate. We are going to the negotiation table with an open mind, but reconciliation must allow us to remain an opposition party.”
